Azercosmos + Iveriasat—Bringing Services To Georgia, + More... (SATCOM—Capacity


[SatNews] Azerbaijani satellite operator Azercosmos and Georgian DTH operator Iveriasat have agreed upon long-term lease of capacity on Azerspace-1, the telecommunication satellite of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the launch of a DTH platform on this satellite.

Once uplinked to the satellite, the DTH platform can also be broadcasted to Europe and Middle East as well as to Georgia,. The platform will consist of more than 60 channels ,the list of which to include such popular TV bouquets as TV11, Global Media Group (GMG) and Viasat. On April 11 of 2014, Azercosmos delegation also attended the official opening ceremony of Iveriasat in Tbilisi, Georgia, where the parties discussed many future aspects that involve mutual cooperation.

Azercosmos is the premier satellite operator in Caucasus. Azerspace-1 satellite, operated by Azercosmos, provides highly-reliable broadband and broadcast solutions to its customers in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Central Asia. The satellite, with a life expectancy of at least 15 years, functions via 24 transponders in C-band and 12 in Ku-band at 46 degrees East.
