[SatNews] To survive a dangerousyou need to work with satellites.

Commercial satellite communications is increasingly becoming an essential tool for government users as the need to dispatch crucial information rapidly, reliably and securely is fundamental to coordinating command and control. Requirements for high data speeds, highly portable and versatile data terminals as well as reliable handheld phones continue to grow in demand within the military sector. Realizing such vital needs, Thuraya, the leading international mobile satellite operator, has tailored a range of specialized services for voice, high-speed data and nettedcomms (for group communications) that are among the most compact, reliable and secure within the satellite telecom industry.

With a complete portfolio of satellite communications solutions, Thuraya will once again be a main exhibitor during the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) held in Malaysia. During the event which takes place from 6th to 10th December, Thuraya will be showcasing various solutions that have already received military approvals.

Thuraya’s DefenceComms solutions include the world’s smallest satellite broadband terminal to support 384 Kbps streaming, Thuraya IP, as well as the only satellite handheld with full walk and talk capabilities, Thuraya XT, a narrowband aeronautical solution that is the smallest in the market, Thuraya NettedComms, the MarineNet Pro maritime broadband solution, Seagull 5000i and a Comms-on-the-Move antenna.

“With reliable and seamless coverage in Asia and a versatile range of products that defense organizations can rapidly deploy for assured, secure, high-speed data, voice and maritime solutions, Thuraya is well poised to serve the defense sector that demand customised and reliable satellite communications for vital operations. Our range of products will be on show at LIMA for consumers to experience first-hand,” said Thuraya’s Vice President Government Services, Mr. Robert Demers.

For Navy Officers, on display at the Thuraya stand will be the soon to be launched MarineNet Pro, an ideal maritime broadband solution which provides data speeds up to 444 Kbps as well as streaming speeds up to 384 Kbps while at sea. Also on show for the maritime sector is the Seagull 5000i which is a cost-effective solution that provides voice, data, SMS and fax services based exclusively on Thuraya’s satellite network.

Thuraya will be exhibiting its pioneered NettedComms solution based on Thuraya IP which integrates different communications technologies into a single closed user group. This service allows for the interconnection of individuals using different communication networks, such as Thuraya IP, Thuraya handheld phones, public switch telephone networks, GSM systems, and radio systems, in order to provide government users a powerful communications solution. The Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition LIMA is the premier destination for aerospace and maritime manufacturers in the Asia Pacific region.
