A new product that combines the indoor and outdoor units into a single weather-proof box, and it lowers the cost involved in delivering broadband services via satellite?
Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ, TASE: GILT) announced the launch of Scorpio VSAT-in-a-box for high-speed consumer broadband. This latest addition to Gilat’s SkyEdge II-c family of VSATs lowers the cost barrier of delivering broadband services via satellite.
Scorpio’s design increases system reliability due to the complete integration of the indoor and outdoor units into a single weather-proof box. This solution addresses the cost efficiencies required for residential customers and small businesses worldwide.
Its compact, lightweight design allows rapid self-installation and easy roof mounting. Scorpio connects to the home network with a single Ethernet cable, thus providing a demarcation point for improved network diagnostics and increased customer satisfaction.
Hagay Katz, Head of the VSAT Line of Business at Gilat said, “Gilat’s Scorpio sets a new industry benchmark for consumer broadband. With our VSAT-in-a-box, ISPs will be able to save in installation and maintenance expenses while Internet users will enjoy rapid self-installation and activation, in addition to low power consumption. Scorpio is a main component of our broadband strategy, with extremely positive feedback received from customers, and first deployments are expected in the coming months.”
