Haigh-Farr's Good Vibrations ... Environmental Testing Facility Built w/Room To Grow

[SatNews] Haigh-Farr increases its in-house environmental testing capabilities with the construction of a dedicated facility adjacent to its existing building. The first phase of the project hosts state-of-the-art vibration equipment that tests both shock and vibration limits on antenna designs, with additional testing capabilities planned for later in the year.

“As part of our overall design philosophy of providing the highest-quality antennas and antenna support products, we are expanding our internal environmental test capabilities with the build-out of a comprehensive facility that will ultimately handle almost all aspects of environmental testing in-house,” says David Farr, CEO of Haigh-Farr. “

This expansion allows us to increase our design and manufacturing throughput by offering our customers a more complete service under one roof as it combines our advanced computer-simulation and high-level in-house manufacturing processes with the latest environmental tests.”

The new facility will initially focus on vibration and shock testing. The new equipment enables Haigh-Farr to test extreme vibration levels and multiple shock spectrums over a wide force range, accommodating small to large test payloads covering all possible antenna applications.

As part of the build-out, a thermal vacuum chamber is being constructed. It is scheduled to be installed and operational during the month of August. When completed, the new environmental test facility can grow to 40,000 square feet, giving Haigh-Farr the capacity to take a project from virtual simulation design and manufacturing through to final physical testing. This gives the company the ability to serve its customers better by offering tighter quality-control protocols and faster turnaround times for the successful completion of a project. Further expansion of the test facility will include salt, fog and humidity testing capabilities.
