PCI Analytics' Geomatica Is Bitten By Python

[SatNews] PCI Geomatics has announced the availability of customized Python scripts to be used in conjunction with the company’s latest release of Geomatica.

Geomatica 2014 offers support for scripting of processing algorithms in the Python language and is available as an alternative to Geomatica’s proprietary EASI scripting environment. Python Scripting also allows for customizable scripting to combine image processing with other tasks to streamline data management applications, generate intelligent business products, or customize output for a variety of GIS applications. A number of scripts on PCI Geomatics’ GitHub page are specifically designed for use in version 10.2.1 of Esri’s ArcGIS software.

“Geomatica 2014 was designed to help geospatial and GIS professionals get more from imagery and support for Python is one way PCI is delivering on that promise,” said David Piekny, Product Marketing Manager at PCI Geomatics. “The scripts made available today leverage our most popular algorithms and will be of use to users, regardless of their familiarity with Python.”

The released scripts support Python 2.7 and are available, free of charge, on PCI Geomatics’ GitHub page at http://pcigeomatics.github.io/PCI-Geomatics-Python-Cookbook.
