TeamCast Preparing For Major Product Debuts @ IBC2015

[SatNews] TeamCast announces that, at IBC 2015 at Stand 2B1, their new exTra3.0 product, the  first terrestrial TV exciter dedicated to the ATSC 3.0 new standard, will be on display.

With this new product, TeamCast is sharing its experience in designing and operating the 3nd Generation of ATSC Terrestrial Standards. It has been especially designed to meet the emergent demand from ATSC 3.0 early adopters to perform transmission performance testing as well as field trials. Being an active member of the ATSC forum and historic member of DVB, TeamCast has leveraged its experience in the integration of latest generation of terrestrial transmission technologies in the development of the ATSC 3.0 exTra3.0 exciter.

exTra3.0 comes as a ready-to-use and stand-alone rack exciter, specifically designed to be integrated inside TV transmitter systems. exTra3.0 integrates TeamCast’s third generation of ATSC 1.0 modulation core as well the new ATSC 3.0 modulation core closely following the standard finalization and validation.

exTra3.0 will be exhibited at IBC 2015 on TeamCast’s booth 2B51.

Executive Comment

“With exTra3.0 we follow our strategy to release terrestrial TV exciter as soon as new standard emerges. The exTra3.0 has been especially design to address both the need to test the emergent ATSC 3.0 technology in labs and the demand from Transmitter manufacturer’s to release ATSC 3.0 TV transmission systems.” says Eric Pinson, Head of the Technology Business Unit at TeamCast.

Additionally, the company is releasing at IBC 2015 new firmware that features the ISDB-T/TB standard on G4Cast and TWISTER, in addition to the DVB-T and DVB-T2 standards. Green4CAST comes as a compact and reliable OEM digital modulator, ready to be integrated within Terrestrial Digital Transmitter designs. It uses a highly reliable and proven platform, with more than one thousand units sold over the last two years for DVB-T and DVB-T2 commercial networks. The TWISTER rack exciter has been designed as an innovative solution for the TV exciter market, bringing several key features to ease integration within the transmitter design and to achieve top of the class RF performance. These features include a state-of-the-art Digital Adaptive Pre-correction mechanism, an Automatic Gain Control (AGC) process to ensure the correct output power stability, and the monitoring of key transmitting power figures such as Forward Transmitted Power and Reflected Power levels. The support of the ISDB-T/TB standard for both products comes as a firmware option available from now.

TeamCast will also be releasing a new S120 firmware version adding new maintenance features to the TWISTER exciter.TWISTER integrates the latest technological breakthroughs in terms of signal processing including TeamCast’s latest adaptive pre-correction algorithms (GAP®). TWISTER brings a significant gain in the output RF signal performance, both in terms of factor of merit (MER) and intermodulation products (Shoulders). One other unique and differentiating feature of the TWISTER solution is the integration of a set of functions specially developed for the control and monitoring of the transmitter. Embedded monitoring functions provide real-time measurements of key operation parameters such as forward and backward RF power levels, MER and intermodulation (Shoulders). The availability of the whole set of TWISTER’s functions through the SNMP interface makes the remote control and monitoring of the transmitter simple and effective. To help further the operator’s personnel, TWISTER now embeds a Log File function, which gives access to all events that occurred in the exciter’s operation and transmitter immediate environment. This Log File can be accessed locally (Web browser) and remotely (SNMP).
