The Space Data Association Membership Continues To Increase... DLR Is Now The Latest Member

[Satnews] The Space Data Association (SDA) has further increased its membership, with the German Aerospace Center (Deutsche Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR) becoming the latest member.

The SDA is an international, non-profit association of satellite operators that supports the controlled, reliable and efficient sharing of space environment and RF spectrum data. The membership comprises many of the world’s major satellite communications companies.

DLR is the national aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, energy, transport and security is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures. As a member of the SDA, DLR will receive reliable and immediate access to information that improves operations for conjunction assessment, RF interference, and geolocation support, as well as providing authoritative contact information for a given space object.

Executive Comments

“We are delighted to add DLR to our list of members” said Mark Rawlins, Chairman, Space Data Association. “DLR is carrying out valuable work in the exploration of Earth and the Solar System and we are pleased that our data will enable them with that important task.”

Michael Kirschner, Flight Dynamics, DLR, said, “The SDA will give us important access to reliable space environment data, as well as connections to other members. We look forward to also contributing to that data supply, enabling SDA to further increase its reliable and usable information for satellite operators across the globe.”
