EchoStar Mobile and RigNet Join Forces to Promote Innovative Mobile Satellite Services + A New VP


EchoStar Mobile, a mobile operator providing connectivity across Europe through a hybrid satellite and terrestrial network and a subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS), and RigNet, Inc. (NASDAQ: RNET), a leading provider of ultra-secure, intelligent networking solutions, now have an agreement to promote and distribute EchoStar Mobile IP-based Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) for voice and data to RigNet’s European customer base.

RigNet will distribute equipment and provide secure, reliable and cost-effective connectivity services via the EchoStar XXI spacecraft operating in the S-band spectrum (with a complementary ground component) licensed in the 28 European member states.

Equipment for the EchoStar Mobile network, including advanced IP voice and data terminals, is designed and manufactured by EchoStar subsidiary Hughes Network Systems, LLC, the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services.

RigNet has all the capabilities to market and distribute the innovative EchoStar Mobile data services across Europe.

Additionally, EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: SATS) has announced that Kim Baum has joined the company as Vice President of regulatory affairs.

With a proven track record in defining and executing complex spectrum and regulatory strategies to enable business opportunities, Ms. Baum will be responsible for regulatory policy and spectrum issues on behalf of EchoStar and its subsidiary companies, EchoStar Satellite Services, LLC, and Hughes Network Systems, LLC.

Ms. Baum brings more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, including positions at the FCC, Astrolink, Motorola and most recently as vice president of spectrum management and development Americas at SES. She will report to Jennifer A. Manner, SVP of regulatory affairs.
