Proton Push For Intelsat-31 Satellite Now Possesses A "TBD" Launch Date

Being moved to an as yet undetermined date is the Intelsat-31 satellite launch via a Proton Booster from Russia's Khrunichev Center, according to reports and a published story in the online Russian Space News.

"Technical reasons" are offered as the reason for this new delay... the launch was supposed to have occurred on May 28—those involved in this mission had been told that there was a possibility of a date change.

The launch of Proton booster with Intelsat-31 telecommunication satellite was moved to TBD date because of technical reason, – Khrunichev Centre representative reports.

Earlier the spokesman stated that the launch was to take place on May 28 according to the schedule but told about the possibility of changes.

Intelsat 31 is a C- and Ku-band satellite that was manufactured by Space Systems Loral (SSL). The C-band payload will enhance Intelsat’s C-band infrastructure serving Latin America and DIRECTV Latin America and will use the Ku-band payload to expand its current Direct-to-Home (DTH) entertainment offerings for Pan Americana as well as provide backup and restoration services.

The satellite, when slotted at 95 degrees West, will be co-located with Intelsat’s Galaxy 3C and Intelsat 30 satellites.
