ViaSat COO Rick Baldridge
Appointed President
Carlsbad, Calif./December 1, 2003/Satnews/
ViaSat Inc. (Nasdaq:
VSAT), a provider of communication equipment for government and commercial
customers, today announced that Richard A. Baldridge, executive vice president
and chief operating officer (COO), has been appointed President and COO.
He assumes the additional title from founder Mark D. Dankberg, who remains
chairman and CEO.
Mr. Baldridge
joined ViaSat in April 1999 as vice president and chief financial officer and
added the positions of executive vice president and COO in July 2000.
Prior to joining the company he served in senior financial and general
management roles within Raytheon Corporation, Hughes Electronics Corp. and
General Dynamics Corporation.
"Rick has
established himself as a vital member of ViaSat's leadership during a key
period in the company's growth and development," said Mr.
Dankberg, a co-founder of the company. "He has been especially
instrumental in expanding and developing our senior executive team, and
organizing the company and its business unit leadership to promote profitable
growth. This new position not only affirms our confidence in Rick's
leadership for the future, but also reflects what he has been accomplishing
for the company every day."
In addition to his
prior management experience, Mr. Baldridge serves as a director of Jobs for
America's Graduates. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration,
with an emphasis in Information Systems, from New Mexico State University.
