California Space Authority Appoints Executive Director and COO

 

Sacramento, Calif./October 14, 2003/Satnews/ The Board of Directors  of the California Space Authority(CSA)  announced the appointment of Andrea Seastrand as Executive Director and Dr. Larry Gooch, Col, USAF (Ret.) as Chief Operating Officer.

As a founder and former Executive Director of CSA's predecessor organization, the California Space & Technology Alliance (CSTA), Mrs. Seastrand brings a clear strategic vision of what California Space Enterprise can be along with an enthusiasm that will ensure success, according to a statement released by CSA. With over 25 years of organizational and program management expertise, Dr. Gooch has a demonstrated track record of building and guiding effective teams in the implementation of mission objectives.

In their most recent responsibilities, Mrs. Seastrand served CSA as Executive Vice President and Dr. Gooch served as CSA's Chief Technical Officer.

"I am confident that Andrea and Larry will lead CSA into the future to provide and grow the 'voice, visibility and edge' of California Space Enterprise," stated Michael J. Gallo, Chairman of the Board.

As Executive Director, Mrs. Seastrand will lead the organization in all of its external activities, including government relations and membership. As Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Gooch will lead CSA in all of its internal activities, including budgeting and administration.

Together, Mrs. Seastrand and Dr. Gooch will lead an integrated management team  in three locations - Santa Maria, Sacramento, and Torrance. CSA will continue its mission to grow and retain existing space enterprise as well as to create new space enterprise within the state of California.
