Announces Management Changes

6, 2003/Satnews/ Scientific-Atlanta,
Inc. (NYSE:SFA) today announced the retirement of executive vice-president
Conrad Wredberg and the assignment of new positions and additional duties to
several executives.
Conrad Wredberg joined Scientific-Atlanta in 1995 as corporate vice-president
and president of the Transmission Systems division. He subsequently served as
the company뭩 chief operating officer. In 2001, he was appointed to the role of
executive vice-president of international markets and focused on integrating
BarcoNet into Scientific-Atlanta.
Wally Haislip has been appointed to the role of senior vice-president of finance
and operations, reporting to Jim McDonald, Scientific-Atlanta chairman,
president and CEO. Mr. Haislip will be responsible for all operational aspects
of the company on a worldwide basis. He will have direct responsibility for
business services and worldwide manufacturing. He also will continue to focus on
strategic financial matters and will continue to be a spokesperson for the
corporation to the investment community.
Mr. Haislip joined Scientific-Atlanta in 1989 and has held a number of key
finance and operations positions including vice-president of finance for the
company뭩 Broadband Communications group, president of worldwide services, and
vice-president of business services. He also has served as vice-president of
procurement and vice-president of high-volume manufacturing and played a lead
role in the planning and start-up of the company뭩 Juarez, Mexico manufacturing
facility.
Mr. Haislip was promoted to senior vice-president ?finance, CFO, and treasurer
in 1998. Before joining Scientific-Atlanta, he spent 17 years in various
financial management positions with General Electric. Mr. Haislip has a degree
in mathematics education from Old Dominion University and graduated from the
General Electric financial management program.
Julian Eidson has been appointed to the position of senior vice-president, CFO,
and treasurer, reporting jointly to Mr. McDonald and Mr. Haislip. He will have
overall company-wide finance and accounting responsibilities, including
controllership of company assets, responsibility for maintaining business
relationships with banking institutions, and financial interaction with the
Securities and Exchange Commission. In addition, he will interact closely with
the Scientific-Atlanta board of directors on financial matters and, along with
the audit committee, will jointly manage the internal audit function.
Mr. Eidson joined Scientific-Atlanta in 1973, has served as the corporate
controller since 1978 and most recently held the position of vice-president,
controller, and principal accounting officer. He has been a key member of the
management team over a long period of time. Mr. Eidson has a degree in physics
and mathematics from North Georgia College and masters degrees in business and
accounting from Georgia State University.
Steve Boyd has been promoted to vice-president, controller, and principal
accounting officer, reporting to Mr. Eidson. He will have worldwide
responsibility for general accounting, tax accounting, and cost accounting. He
also will be responsible for SEC document preparation and for ensuring that
company contracts comply with all applicable accounting requirements.
Mr. Boyd joined the company in 1990 and has held a variety of financial and
accounting roles in worldwide accounting, financial planning and analysis,
business services, and worldwide manufacturing. He has 22 years of finance and
accounting experience, including public audit experience at Touche Ross &
Company, a predecessor to Deloitte and Touche. Mr. Boyd received his bachelor's
degree in accounting from the University of North Florida and is a Certified
Public Accountant.
Ward Dickson has been promoted to the position of vice-president, worldwide
financial operations, reporting to Mr. Eidson. He will be responsible for all
sector and region financial oversight and support. In addition, he will continue
to be responsible for financial analysis and reporting and will be responsible
for financial contract and margin analysis for the company.
Mr. Dickson joined Scientific-Atlanta in 1991 and has held key finance positions
supporting the company's Subscriber and Transmission businesses and its
sales and manufacturing functions. In addition, he has had responsibility for
treasury and financial planning and analysis. Prior to joining the company, he
spent seven years at General Electric. He earned a bachelors degree in business
with a concentration in finance from Indiana University and is a graduate of the
General Electric financial management program.
