BAE SYSTEMS Names Dr. William L. Ballhaus President of Mission Solutions San Diego, CA /July 7, 2003/Satnews/ BAE SYSTEMS has named Dr. William L. Ballhaus as president of the company's Mission Solutions business unit, effective July 21, 2003. Ballhaus will report to Dr. Marshall Banker, president of BAE SYSTEMS Information Systems Sector. In announcing the appointment, Banker said, "We are extremely pleased that Bill is joining BAE SYSTEMS in this key position. His experience and demonstrated leadership will play a critical role in developing comprehensive strategies in support of our defense and intelligence customers." As Mission Solutions president, Ballhaus will be responsible for leading three lines of business -- Intelligence Systems, Defense Systems and TALISIN -- and managing the development and delivery of subsystems, applications, and commercial products supporting the C4ISR marketplace. Ballhaus joins BAE SYSTEMS from the Boeing Company, where he served most recently as senior vice president of System Engineering. He joined Boeing in 1994 and held a succession of leadership positions, including general manager of System Products and director of Operations for the company's Integrated Satellite Factory. He also served as general manager of Boeing's Electron Dynamic Devices, a stand-alone subsidiary. Ballhaus' experience spans general management, program management, engineering, operations, and commercial and government business development. From 1989 to 1994, he performed research in advanced automated control systems as a research assistant at the Stanford Aerospace Robotics Laboratory in Palo Alto, Calif. He received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Davis and master's and doctorate degrees in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University.
