New Skies Names Director of Government Services
The Hague, Netherlands/June 26, 2002/Satnews Daily/ —
New Skies
Satellites N.V. has named Robert W. Turner as director of
government services, spearheading New Skies’ government sales and marketing
initiatives.
A long-time government sales and marketing executive at Equant, Global One and
Sprint, Turner has nearly 20 years of experience in government communications
and the information technology marketplace. In his new role, Turner will manage
New Skies’ government-related sales and business development activities from
the company’s Washington D.C. office.
The U.S. government/military satcom market is currently valued at $400 - $500
million per year and is expected to grow 15 - 20 percent over the next three
years. New Skies offers government customers and contractors a high level of
satellite experience, expertise, and operational insight to help meet client
operational, financial, logistical, and security requirements.
While at Equant and Global One, Turner led both companies’ US-based government
sales organizations, where he focused primarily on addressing the international
communications needs of federal, state, and local government agencies;
multilateral organizations; and systems integrators. Turner joined Sprint’s
Government System’s Division in 1988 as federal account manager for the U.S.
Air Force. He later became director of sales, civilian agencies and
counter-intelligence programs. During his tenure at Sprint, Turner led teams
that secured federal and state-level government business valued at over $1
billion.
