Integral to Upgrade Ground System for Japan’s JCSAT-11 Satellite
LANHAM, MD, May 2, 2007 - Satnews Daily - Integral Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISYS) has won a contract from Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS) to expand JSAT Corporation's existing Epoch-based ground system to support their new JCSAT-11 satellite, a Lockheed Martin A2100 model spacecraft scheduled to be launched later this year.
The upgrade extends the existing Epoch ground system, which supports JCSAT-9 and JCSAT-10, to also support JCSAT-11 as part of an integrated, comprehensive system for all three satellites. The contract includes all telemetry and command processing and display, ranging, flight dynamics and equipment status and control to enable JSAT to safely and effectively operate the JCSAT-11 satellite.
Integral's software products, including both Epoch IPS (Integrated Product Suite) and Compass Network Manager from Newpoint Technology, and Integral's ability to rapidly deliver the system on an eight-month schedule, were key factors in winning this contract.
Based in Tokyo, JSAT is one of the largest satellite operators in Asia, with nine communications satellites in eight orbital slots about 36,000km above the Equator. JSAT’s goal is to provide communications services that can be used by anyone, anywhere and at any time.
JSAT has contracted with International Launch Services for launch of JCSAT-11 on a Proton Breeze M vehicle in 2007. JCSAT-11 is an A2100 model satellite built by LMCSS. It will serve as an in-orbit back up satellite for other JCSAT satellites.
"We are extremely pleased to once again support LMCSS and JSAT on this program," said Stuart Daughtridge, executive vice president of the Commercial Division at Integral Systems. "JSAT and LMCSS are both industry leaders and we appreciate that they have both repeatedly selected Integral and our Epoch based solutions for their satellites" he added.
Founded in 1982, Integral Systems is a provider of satellite ground systems and has supported over 205 different satellite missions for communications, science, meteorological, and earth resource applications. Integral Systems was the first company to offer an integrated suite of COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) software products for satellite command and control: the Epoch IPS (Integrated Product Suite) product line.
