Telenor and Inmarsat Take Roadshow to Indonesia

JAKARTA, Indonesia, March 23, 2007 - Satnews Daily - Telenor Satellite Services, a provider of global mobile satellite communications, and Inmarsat have completed the Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) technology roadshow in Indonesia.

Senior executives from both companies interacted with representatives from over 30 organizations, demonstrating how businesses and government in Indonesia can harness the power of satellite communications.

Indonesian businesses and government users will benefit from better connections at affordable prices when mobile satellite services are adopted widely in the country, Asia-Pacific Regional Sales Manager for Telenor Satellite Services, Rodolfo Ramirez, Jr. said.

Ramirez was in Indonesia this month to run intensive workshops in Jakarta and Bali on Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), the latest technology from Inmarsat (LSE: ISAT). Telenor Satellite Services, a subsidiary of Telenor of Norway (Oslo Stock Exchange: TEL and NASDAQ: TELN), is a global communications solutions provider for aeronautical, maritime, and land-based industries, organizations, and government users. Inmarsat is the pioneer of global mobile satellite communications and operates a constellation of geostationary satellites.

"Communications based on satellite technology is cheaper than that based on other technologies," said Ramirez. "It is also gives you better connections since there are fewer incidents where users would experience "blank spots" or "no signal" problems."

The workshops provided a demonstration of the unique capabilities of BGAN, which offers simultaneous voice and high-speed data communications via a portfolio of small, lightweight user terminals. Participants included a cross-section of organizations including telecommunications providers, as well as international and regional businesses in finance, healthcare, oil and gas, mining, and other vertical sectors that can benefit from using BGAN for field communications.

"The response to the road show in the Asia-Pacific region was tremendous. Participants were able to see 'first-hand' how the advanced technology of BGAN can make a real difference to the way they do business," said Ramirez.

"In addition to the hands-on training, we were able to demonstrate how BGAN is uniquely able to provide IP-based voice and data communications that enable industries and organizations to extend business operations to remote locations and to provide essential communications for continuity of operations."

The robust communications service from Telenor is especially useful for a variety of IP-based applications such as streaming video, video conferencing and Web browsing. The service allows businesses and organizations to extend networks to their remote operations sites.

BGAN is the world's first mobile broadband IP service and is the latest addition to the Telenor Portfolio of Broadband, On Demand, and Value Added Services.

Ramirez said that in Indonesia, Telenor Satellite Service already has three partners to distribute its offerings in Indonesia. "However, by the end of the year, we are confident that we will have several more, focusing on services to a wide cross-section of industries and markets throughout the Indonesia."

BGAN coverage does not currently include a few eastern Indonesian islands. Full coverage for Indonesia is expected in 2008, when the third Inmarsat-4 satellite will be launched and operational over the Pacific Ocean.
