ORLANDO, Fla., March 22, 2007 - Satnews Daily - SES Americom, an SES company (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg stock exchanges: SESG), and NewCom International have signed a marketing agreement to add REDiSat to its suite of communications solutions being offered to customers in southeastern USA. REDiSat offers businesses an always-on, satellite-delivered emergency broadband connection to the Internet, capable of supporting voice and data services.
NewCom, a teleport operator and global communications company headquartered in Miami, Florida, will offer REDiSat to communications service providers and businesses serving a broad range of markets, including hospitals, banks, hotels and utilities companies.
"We’ve added REDiSat to our vast portfolio of basic and advanced communications services to offer our diverse customer base across Florida and the southeast the one connectivity feature they want most of all - peace of mind," said Jaime Dickinson, president and COO of NewCom International, recently named the Independent Teleport Operator of the Year by the World Teleport Association (WTA).
"REDiSat is a must-have emergency communications solution designed to restore a customer’s business communications. SES Americom has truly demonstrated its innovative vision with a product that will serve business and the community well for years to come."
"By aligning ourselves with communications service leaders like NewCom, SES Americom is able to reach out faster than ever before to large and small companies across the country in need of a real-time emergency communications solution capable of keeping business lifelines intact and operational," explains Orlando Skelton, vice president of enterprise services for SES Americom. "A growing number of leading companies are signing on with REDiSat to keep their communications networks and customer links open for business."
Delivered over SES Americom’s AMC-6 satellite, REDiSat offers a low-cost, customized solution and a compelling alternative to land-locked T1 circuits for both small and large businesses. A single pre-installed REDiSat Network satellite antenna can enable a business to mitigate risk and avoid shutdowns due to terrestrial network outages disrupted by physical breaks or extreme weather. The REDiSat service leverages SES Americom’s satellite fleet, which carries millions of secure, mission-critical business transactions every day and has been used by U.S. government agencies and Fortune 500 companies for more than 30 years.
Launched in October 2000, AMC-6 is a hybrid C- and Ku-band satellite operating at 72 degrees west longitude. From this position in the eastern part of the U.S. orbital arc, both the C- and Ku-bands of the satellite provide service to government, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) network and entertainment customers in the continental United States, Mexico, Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The largest supplier of satellite services in the Americas, SES Americom is recognized as a pioneer of global satellite communications services. Established in 1973, the company currently operates a fleet of 16 spacecraft in orbital positions predominantly providing service throughout the Americas.
