NEW YORK, March 16, 2007/Satnews Daily/ ― Hughes Network Systems, Llc said its latest generation Hughes 9250 mobile satellite terminal has been approved to operate over Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN). The Hughes 9250 is designed to deliver high-speed transmit and receive rates of over 460Kbps while on the move within Inmarsat's global BGAN satellite coverage area.

Ideal for news reporters, emergency response and mobile workers, the Hughes 9250 enables a wide range of broadband applications, including data and video file transfers, Internet browsing, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Virtual Private Network (VPN), Voice over IP (VoIP), WiFi, and video conferencing-all while on the move. It features a compact, fully autonomous tracking antenna, easily installed with a magnetic roof mount.

The Hughes 9250 mobile satellite terminal supports speeds of up to 464/464 Kbps transmit/receive; multi-user capabilities (up to 11 simultaneous users); simultaneous Ethernet, ISDN and WiFi Access; WiFi Access Point built-in and selectable, dedicated IP Quality of Service levels up to 128 Kbps

The terminal is software upgradeable to the Class 11 land vehicular rating, which will operate with Inmarsat's BGAN-X network expected to be commercially launched later in 2007.

"We are proud that our 9250 has been approved by Inmarsat for operation on its global BGAN network," said Graham Avis, vice president of Hughes' Mobile Satellite Terminal Group. "It ushers in a superior level of high-speed communication on the move that's not available with any other satellite or cellular service."
