Pure Telecom Unveils Mobile Satellite Broadband

DUBLIN, Ireland, Feb. 28, 2007/Satnews Daily/ ― Irish business broadband provider Pure Telecom has developed a new transportable service that allows users to quickly set up a satellite broadband link.

Designed primarily for emergency services and event organizers, the system can establish a broadband link in about five minutes. It offers services such as Internet access, telephony, video conferencing, and Virtual Private Networks. The system, however, must be stationary in order to pick up a satellite signal.

This new service is an add-on to Pure's Broadband Anywhere offering that delivers broadband to Irish companies based anywhere in the country, generally through a satellite service.

Pure said transportable broadband systems were already in use among some emergency service providers in Europe, including the German police. The company said it had not yet priced the service and was researching potential customers.

Pure said satellite broadband was often the only option available to rural users in Ireland as they are unable to access broadband any other way. It noted that satellite broadband is a good option for businesses in rural locations.

Pure Telecom was established in March 2002 and its headquarters are located in Cornelscourt, County Dublin. It provides phone and Internet access services to SOHO, SME and corporate customers, wit low rates and one-to-one account management. These include inbound and outbound voice solutions (local and long distance, lo-call and freephone numbers), high-speed Internet access solutions (DSL, Wireless, Satellite and Leased line), telecoms auditing, hardware and data solutions.
