Comtech Receives $1-M Order for Satellite Equipment from DirecTV

 

MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 16, 2006/Satnews Daily/ — Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) has announced that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., received an order for approximately $1.0 million from DirecTV.

 

The order is a component of the previously announced volume purchase agreement for a minimum of $3.5 million over two years.

 

Comtech said included in the order were Comtech EF Data’s DVB-S2 Modulators and 1:1 Redundancy Switches, which will be deployed to power DirecTV’s high-definition television (HDTV) uplink services. The Modulators are based on the emerging satellite transmission standard, DVB-S2, which enables link performance optimization.

 

Comtech EF Data Corp. manufactures a broad spectrum of satellite communications products, including Satellite Modems, Bandwidth & Capacity Management, TCP/IP Performance Enhancement Proxies, Converters, Amplifiers, Transceivers and Terminals.
