Northrop Awarded NASA Engineering Services Contract |

HERNDON, Va., Dec. 14, 2006/Satnews Daily/ ― NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center has selected a team of companies, including Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC), to provide engineering-related services for the Mechanical Systems Engineering Services (MSES) II/A contract.
Northrop will be a subcontractor to Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies on the indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity task-order contract, which is potentially valued at $400 million over five years. Northrop’s contract is potentially valued at $40-$80 million, depending on the task orders received.
Northrop will provide mechanical engineering-related services to Goddard's Mechanical Systems Division and other NASA organizations in the areas of materials, structural analysis and loads, design, thermal, contamination and coatings, and integration and test. Contract work is scheduled to begin Feb. 1, 2007.
MSES II/A is a comprehensive contract that provides for the evaluation of the mechanical engineering operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions. MSES II/A provides support to NASA programs such as Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, James Webb Space Telescope, and Solar Dynamics Observatory, among several others.
