NEW YORK CITY, Nov. 28, 2006/Satnews Daily/ ― To fill a void in the industry for a quality conference on the investment side of the satellite business, industry conference organizer Hannover Fairs USA, Inc. launched its inaugural ISCe Satellite Investment Symposium NYC ’06 (ISIS NYC ’06), today at co-host Jones Day’s law office in midtown Manhattan, New York City.
ISIS NYC ’06 brought together over 140 high-profile executives in the satellite television (DBS), satellite radio (DARS), mobile satellite (MSS), fixed satellite services (FSS), IPTV, Broadcasters, Digital TV/SyndEx and Mobile Video sectors of the satellite industry with leading New York financiers and members of the Wall Street community.
“Given the increasing role of private equity players in the commercial satellite communications sector, the financial aspects of this great industry have taken front and center stage over the last few years,” said David Bross, chairman of ISIS NYC and the ISCe Conference & Expo.

The ISCe event was held concurrently with the Global VSAT Forum’s (GVF) Satellite Summit which focused on “Satellite-Based Disaster Recovery: Redefining the Critical Mission” which was also held today at the Omni Berkshire Place Hotel in New York.
In the evening the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) Future Leaders Dinner was held at The Princeton Club in Manhattan. This dinner will honored future leaders who are currently making a difference in our industry and an executive who is recognized for his or her success in mentoring industry professionals. The “Future Leaders” award were given to Eileen McGowan, Program Manager, Futron Corporation; Alex Flores, Product Manager, IP Network Services, Intelsat; and Denis Mlynarski, Antenna Engineer Senior Staff, Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems. A “Mentor” award was also given to Andrew Werth.
The initial ISIS conference succeeded in its aim of filling the void in the industry to discuss the industry from a finance perspective according to Hannover Fairs USA Chairman, Art Paredes. “We are pleased with the results, there are other conferences focusing on the business or content side of he industry but ISIS is the only one that is focused primarily on the financial and investment side of the business. It was very well received and most of the participants felt that this something worthwhile and needed by the industry and we’ll take that and move it forward to next year’s event,” added Paredes.
ISIS organizers announced that the next ISIS conference will be held next year on October 9th in New York City.
