TerreStar Signs Cooperative R&D Deal with the U.S. DOF for Emergency Response Communications Network |

RESTON, Va., Oct. 31, 2006/Satnews Daily/ — TerreStar Networks Inc., an emerging provider of one of America's first 4G mobile communications networks, announced on Monday a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) (No. DISA- 07-001) with the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) of the U.S. Department of Defense for the development of a North American Emergency Response Communications Network.
TerreStar said the CRADA with DISA will cover Network, Operations, Applications, Facilities and Sustainment. TerreStar is providing information and manpower to the joint research project, matching its efforts with those of the DISA to meet the CRADA's objectives.
TerreStar and DISA said they expect the CRADA to yield substantial progress, via information exchanges, to eventually develop products that will mutually benefit the government and TerreStar.
The Defense Information Systems Agency is a combat support agency responsible for planning, engineering, acquiring, fielding, and supporting global net-centric solutions to serve the needs of the president, vice president, the Secretary of Defense, and other DoD Components, under all conditions of peace and war.
DISA is also responsible for providing, maintaining, and establishing the technical standards for a world-wide telecommunications/data communications network and network links for the Department of Defense (DoD), components and agencies of the DoD, and other Federal/State agencies and for ensuring communications interoperability with other nations.
