LONDON, Oct. 20, 2006/Satnews Daily/ ― Program and System Assurance consulting firm Vega Group PLC has won a three-year contract in excess of $2.9 million (€2.3 million) per year to provide science and engineering support to European Space Agency’s (ESA) Directorate of Science Programs (D/SCI) based at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in the Netherlands and also at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC) in Spain.
Under the terms of the contract, Vega will provide engineering and scientific support in the areas of System and Software Engineering and Operations Support.
Vega said its work will focus on existing and exciting new missions in the areas of astronomy, solar physics and planetary exploration. A wide range of missions and areas are covered including XMM-Newton, GAIA, Mars Express and Venus Express.
Vega’s business development director for Aerospace, John Auburn, said Vega has been working at ESTEC in the Netherlands for over 15 years and has built up a reputation of providing managed solutions through innovative ideas and experienced staff.
“This contract win reinforces this relationship and we will continue to provide scientific knowledge and software applications at the technical heart of ESA’s programs,” he added.
Vega supports scientific, commercial and military programs worldwide and has been involved in almost every European Space Agency mission over the last 28 years. Its clients include the European Space Agency, European Commission, Inmarsat, Eumetsat, EADS Astrium, Alcatel Alenia Space and RapidEye.
