National Geographic Reaches France in HDTV with GlobeCast

 

PARIS, August 30, 2006/Satnews Daily/ ― GlobeCast has announced that it will be delivering National Geographic France HD from Italy to French bouquet Canalsat, thanks to an agreement with the channel’s parent company, FOX International Channels Italy.

 

GlobeCast is providing Fox International Channels with an end-to-end contribution service, including delivery of National Geographic France HD from the Sky Italia headquarters in Milan via diversified fiber routing to Canalsat’s headquarters outside Paris. In addition, GlobeCast will provide all HD encoding and decoding equipment.

 

Globecast said the deal strengthens the existing relationship between the company and Fox International Channels. GlobeCast has been involved in the transmission of National Geographic France since 2004 and Fox Life France since 2005, both in standard definition. This latest agreement moves this collaboration to a new and more innovative level as it utilizes the latest in HD technology. 

 

GlobeCast, a subsidiary of France Telecom, is a global content management and delivery company for professional broadcast. Via its worldwide satellite and fiber network, the company manages and transports 10 million hours of video and other rich media yearly for its core customer base of broadcasters, as well as corporate, government and retail clients.
