Audiovox Making Radios for XM Satellite After FCC Ruling |

WASHINGTON, Aug. 29, 2006/Satnews Daily/ ― Audiovox Corp. (VOXX) said on Monday it has resumed making radios for XM Satellite Radio following the Federal Communications Commission's approval of XM-branded radios that were previously deemed too strong.
Audiovox will begin shipping its Xpress XM Satellite radios soon, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The strong satellite signal of three XM Satellite-branded radios used in cars came under investigation by the FCC in April. In some cases, the frequencies of the radios were too strong and were picked up by nearby vehicles, in violation of FCC standards. The solution the FCC approved involves an extra installation step that should result in a weaker transmission that won't reach vehicles nearby. In July, the agency denied an earlier attempted fix.
