Sirius Resumes Satellite Radio Manufacturing After Granted FCC Authority

NEW YORK, Aug. 11, 2006/Satnews Daily/ ― Sirius Satellite Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) announced on Thursday that one of its radio manufacturers has resumed manufacturing and distribution of Sirius branded radios with FM transmitters.

Radio manufacturer, Kiryung Electronics Co. Ltd. (KRI), received new grants of authority from the FCC for the Xact Visor, Sirius One and Sportster Replay radios.

Sirius said the grants were issued after the FCC's laboratory confirmed that the devices were compliant with applicable FCC rules. KRI also continues to manufacture the Sirius Sportster 4.

Last month, Sirius ordered some of its manufacturers to stop making radios after they were found not complying with federal emissions and frequency rules. Sirius rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. did the same after they discovered radio models with FM transmitters has allowed consumers to play the satellite service on a traditional radio.
