MCLEAN, VA, May 16, 2006/Satnews Daily/
¾ Spacenet Inc. has introduced
Connexstar SE On-Demand, the newest addition to its lineup of advanced
satellite network offerings for mission critical backup and business
continuity solutions. Spacenet said the new offering bolsters Spacenet's backup/disaster recovery solutions with new advanced features, faster speeds, and increased security. The service provides a broadband network "lifeline."
Benefits of include: a wireless last-mile solution
that provides a physically diverse network path from terrestrial
alternatives; it is easily and quickly deployable; it can be seamlessly
integrated with primary networks; and customers pay on a usage basis for
the bandwidth they require, minimizing costs when the backup network is
not being used. The newly added Connexstar SE On-Demand services
are based on the Gilat SkyEdge VSAT platform, enabling faster speeds (up
to 2 Mbps); stronger encryption and built-in accelerated Cisco VPN
compatibility; and significantly improved bandwidth efficiency. In
addition, different backup service packages are available, which are
based on a set number of hours of backup connectivity per month, with
additional days available at a set price. Spacenet president and CEO Bill Gerety said backup connectivity services are critical for ensuring network reliability in the event of an emergency or disaster - and companies without a physically diverse backup connectivity solution for voice and data may be at risk.
“With the 2006 hurricane season approaching, emergency and disaster recovery planning is a key topic right now. Last year, Spacenet provided broadband satellite systems for critical communications during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, providing voice and data services almost immediately when terrestrial networks were out for days or weeks,” he said.
