Stratos Unveils New BGAN Mobile Media System at NAB2006 |

BETHESDA, MD, April 24, 2006/Satnews Daily/ — Stratos Global Corp. (TSX: SGB) has introduced its BGAN Mobile Media System, a remote satellite newsgathering and delivery system for broadcasters worldwide. Stratos is showcasing its BGAN Mobile Media System at NAB2006.
The Stratos BGAN Mobile Media System - based on Inmarsat's Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN) mobile satellite service - is a fully portable, satellite newsgathering and delivery system at a lower cost compared to traditional satellite newsgathering systems.
Stratos said its BGAN systems are ideal for broadcasters and first responders who need dependable, secure voice and broadband access in locations lacking a reliable telecommunications infrastructure. Stratos said The BBC has already deployed Stratos BGAN to cover major news events in Asia.
Stratos says its BGAN Mobile Media System combines a low-cost, lightweight BGAN satellite terminal/antenna, handheld video camera, voice handset, power adapters, batteries, cables and compact PC - everything needed to stage and rapidly deploy news teams to breaking events.
Based on the same mobile satellite technology that major broadcasting networks have used for years for remote overseas newsgathering, the Stratos BGAN Mobile Media System is now available worldwide and can be rapidly deployed and easily used by non-technical staff. It is the only mobile satellite newsgathering system to offer broadband data with simultaneous voice, through a single, truly portable device.
Using compact, lightweight satellite terminals about the size of small laptop PCs, the Stratos BGAN Mobile Media System offers IP data speeds of up to 492 kbps. It is ideal for on-the-scene connectivity when satellite news vans are unavailable or unfeasible - or as a reliable, portable back-up solution.
