Octalis Sells Professional Broadcast Activity to Newtec

LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE, Belgium, Feb. 14, 2006/Satnews Daily/ — Octalis has sold its Professional Broadcast activity to its main historical partner Newtec Cy, a Belgian company specializing in equipment and solutions for satellite transmissions.

Octalis and Newtec have been successfully working together for more than 5 years, building solutions for data and file transfers over DVB satellite networks.

“This sale is a natural evolution in our close collaboration. This operation is part of the execution of our strategy in focusing our efforts on the very promising business of audiovisual content protection,” said Mario Houthooft, CEO of Octalis.

“The integration of the broadcast activities of Octalis in our own portfolio allows Newtec to expand our R&D team with complementary expertise and to enrich our product offering with new building blocks for our broadcast and broadband access networks systems,” said Dirk Breynaert, CEO of Newtec.

He added Newtec plans to open a new R&D center in the area of Louvain-La-Neuve and will further expand the team and its activities in a near future.
