BUCKINGHAMSHIR, UK, Feb. 3, 2006/Satnews Daily/ —British satellite communications manufacturer Advent Communications has supplied two new flyaways to TVNZ in New Zealand, which match two similar systems supplied to rival broadcaster TV3 earlier in 2005.
Advent said TVNZ purchased two 1meter Mantis satellite fly-away systems with Exos electronics through Advent’s agent in New Zealand, Telequipment.
The 1m Mantis is the lightest and most compact of Advent’s Mantis range of flyaways for portable satellite uplinking. It is designed to send high quality video and data from anywhere in the world and is rugged enough to stand up to regular traveling in rough terrain.
Advent’s Mantis antennas can be used with the company’s Exos modular electronic subsystems. These weatherproof electronics units are a fraction of the size and weight of typical 19 rack mount flight case solutions and provide exceptional system performance.
According to Telequipment, TVNZ will use their new Mantis systems for news contribution, where they had previously been using microwave links. Satellite communications can work more effectively in the remote areas of New Zealand, which has some hilly countryside and mountain ranges, Telequipment said. |
