MSV Appoints Scott Macleod Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

 

RESTON, Va., Jan. 25, 2006/Satnews Daily/ — Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) has named Scott Macleod, a 20-year telecom and strategic finance veteran, to the position of chief financial officer, responsible for finance and strategic business planning for MSV's nationwide integrated satellite and terrestrial network.

 

Macleod background includes extensive experience in financing and strategic advisory transactions within the telecommunications industry, most recently as managing director of a leading independent investment bank, Rothschild Inc., where he was responsible for their North American Telecom practice.

 

Prior to joining Rothschild, Macleod was chief corporate development officer of XO Communications, and had previously been managing director and founding member of Merrill Lynch's Global Communications Group.

 

With Macleod's arrival, Eric Swank, former chief financial officer, will assume the position of senior VP, Finance. Swank will continue to be responsible for MSV's expanding finance and control operations including accounting, reporting, treasury, tax and structuring related to various strategic and financial initiatives. He will join Macleod in continuing the company's extensive financing efforts.

 

Macleod's twenty-year experience spans more than 75 completed financing and strategic transactions including Telewest (sale to NTL), British Telecom (acquisition of Infonet) and Equant (sale to France Telecom). As chief corporate development officer of XO Communications, Macleod was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures/partnerships and other business activity. Before joining XO, Macleod's experiences as managing director of Merrill Lynch included significant financing and advisory assignments in each of the LEC, CLEC, long-haul carrier, undersea cable and satellite sectors. Macleod was previously associated with the investment banking groups of Salomon Brothers Inc. and Kidder, Peabody. Macleod has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Business.
