Swe-Dish Gets Orders from Malaysia

STOCKHOLM, June 9, 2005/Satnews Daily/ — Swe-Dish Satellite Systems has received an order of an IP-based satellite network solution from the Malaysian authorities. The equipment, according to Swe-Dish, is designed for Ku-band satellites and will be used in South East Asia.

The equipment will be used for the development of Malaysia’s newest satellite network solution based on Ku-band technology. The selected Suitcase terminal is IP-based, fully automated including autopoint and designed for Ku-band satellites.

According to Swe-Dish, several defense forces, governmental agencies and rescue organizations around the world are today using similar network solutions from Swe-Dish. The Swe-Dish IPT Suitcase terminals were also used during the Tsunami relief operation, by rescue organizations worldwide as well as authorities from Indonesia and Thailand.

Swe-Dish said the order includes voice and data equipment from Anitcom, an Australian system integrator, with long experience from serving defense organizations in the region. The IPT Suitcase gives access to analog telephone lines, Ethernet connections for data and MPEGII video streaming via the IP encoder.

The IPT Suitcase is said to be the smallest fully integrated terminal on the market and weights only 39 kg. It comes with several aids to make operation easy, e.g. GPS, inbuilt compass, browser-based step by step set-up wizard and full satellite auto-acquisition.
