Intersputnik Partnership Expansion Approved in Bangalore Meet |

BANGALORE, India, April 7, 2005/Satnews Daily/ — At the invitation of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), the regular 33rd session of the Board of the Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications was held in Bangalore on 4-5 April 2005.
Attended by the delegations from the member countries of the Organization, the session was opened by Boris D. Antonyuk, deputy minister of Information Technologies and Communications of the Russian Federation.
In his address, Russia’s representative noted with satisfaction that Intersputnik was implementing a number of new ambitious projects in close cooperation and partnership with leading Russian companies. Antonyuk confirmed that Russia would continue to deepen and diversify its interaction with Intersputnik.
During the session India’s G. Madhavan Nair, secretary of the Department of Space of the Government of India and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman, was unanimously elected chairman of the Intersputnik Board for the next term.
One of the highlights of the 33rd session of the Intersputnik Board was the accession of Azerbaijan to Intersputnik.
Intersputnik Director General Gennady G. Kudryavtsev stressed that ‘in the recent years, we developed and put into shape a fundamentally new approach to our partnership with satellite operators, in the first place, the Russian Satellite Communications Company, Eutelsat, Gascom and EuropeStar’. Kudryavtsev indicated that foundation would be laid for analogous interaction with ISRO.
The board also announced the composition of a new governing body – the Operations Committee consisting of seventeen Intersputnik Signatories from different countries. The Board reviewed and approved a new procedure for the formation of Intersputnik’s Share Capital and elected new members of the Auditing Commission.
The Board also welcomed the statement by the Russian representative that Russia had approved a large-scale program for deepening and expanding cooperation with Intersputnik. This program is intended to serve as a firm basis for the implementation of the Organization’s strategy.
Given the expiry of the term of office of Director General Gennady G. Kudryavtsev, the Board session elected Vadim E. Belov, a Russian national, new Director General.
