CPI Satcom Division Introduces 2.25 kW C-Band Super Linear TWTA

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 4, 2005/Satnews Daily/ — CPI Satcom Division has recently introduced a 2.25 kW C-Band Super Linear Traveling Wave Tube Amplifier (TWTA). The TWTA, according to CPI Satcom, breaks new ground in high power, C-Band performance.

“Reactions to this product at the show have been very favorable,” said Colin Eastment, director of business development for Satcom Division. “Compared to other high power, broadband amplifiers currently on the market, the Super Linear TWTA is significantly more efficient. It provides the same linear operating RF power as amplifiers up to 30% larger in size. The prospect of lower operating and UPS costs, as well as lower build-out costs, is very attractive to many of our customers.”

According to CPI Satcom, the Super Linear TWTA meets Intelsat linearity requirements at RF output power levels up to 1000 watts. It consumes 2 kW to 3 kW less prime power than comparable HPAs. The amplifier also features a large, color graphical user display similar to the company’s industry-leading GEN IV klystron power amplifier, as well as Ethernet interface and uplink power control.
