LBiSat Signs New Lease on AsiaSat 2

HONG KONG, April 1, 2005/Satnews Daily/ ¾ Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat) and LBiSat LLC, a global satellite teleport operator and services provider, announced on Thursday the signing of a new lease agreement for the use of C-band capacity on AsiaSat 2.

LBiSat will use the capacity to offer its customers distribution services across AsiaSat 2’s extensive C-band footprint that includes more than 50 countries and regions across the Asia Pacific.

Rodger Lyman, executive vice president of LBiSat said the addition of C-band capacity on AsiaSat 2 augments the company’s existing satellite network offerings in the region. “AsiaSat 2 has excellent access to many terrestrial broadcasters, cable operators, hotels and home viewers in Asia.  This allows us to provide customers with a more competitive and cost effective solution for distribution services across the region,” added Lyman.

LBiSat founded in 1981 provides Internet access, telephone dial-tone, and video services via satellite in over 100 countries. Along with the full service teleport and fiber hub in Salt Lake City, Utah, LBiSat operates a teleport outside Washington, D.C. and partners with three teleports in Europe, and one in Australia. LBiSat specialises in satellite teleport services, engineering and design, equipment and integration, installation, connectivity, monitoring, Internet technology and transportable systems.
