World Teleport Association (WTA) Announces the 2005 Teleport Awards for Excellence Recipients

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 24, 2005/Satnews Daily/ — At a luncheon sponsored by SES Americom on Wednesday during the SAT  2005 show in Washington, D.C.  the World Teleport Association (WTA)  announced winners of the 2005 Teleport Awards for Excellence.

 

The winners were: Teleport Technology of the Year Award- iDirect’s 51 F Hub and Netmodem I+; Teleport Executive of the Year- David Sprechman,  President of GlobeCast North America; Teleport Developer of theYear- CapRock Communications and Teleport Operator of the Year- Telepuerto Internacional Buenos Aires (TIBA).

 

This is the tenth annual anniversary of the WTA Teleport awards and the organizers took the opportunity to honor past recipients of  the award.  In attendance at the luncheon were past winners of the award including Europe Online’s Candace Johnson who was one of three winners of the WTA Founders’ award.  The other two recipients of the Founders’ award include industry pioneers Rene Anselmo of PanAmSat and Tadayoshi Yamada, WTA founder. The WTA is celebrating this year it’s 20th anniversary.

 

Lou Zacharilla, WTA Director of Development, explained that the winners were chosen from nominees from the industry and by a panel of experts which included past winners of the awards.  The committee is chaired by Stephen G. Tom, Executive Director of the Pacific Telecommunications Council. Nominations are open to everyone.
