GlobeCast and Arabsat to Launch European Gateway on Arabsat 4A

 

DUBAI, UAE, March 9, 2005/Satnews Daily/ GlobeCast and Arabsat announced on Tuesday the launch in late 2005 of a new broadcast platform on Arabsat’s fourth-generation satellite Arabsat 4A. 

 

This digital distribution platform in Ku-band will offer the first European gateway to an Arabsat satellite and will allow broadcasters from around the world direct access to the Middle Eastern and North African markets via GlobeCast’s worldwide satellite and fiber distribution network.

 

GlobeCast President and CEO Christian Pinon said the new platform on Arabsat 4A will continue the spirit of partnership that GlobeCast and Arabsat share.  “GlobeCast works with all of the world’s major satellite operators, so launching a broadcast platform with Arabsat is a natural step and reinforces GlobeCast’s status as the leading global satellite services company,” he said.

 

The European Gateway on Arabsat 4A is another example of Arabsat’s commitment to quality, reliability and service to its customers,” Arabsat CEO Eng. Khalid A. Balkheyour said.

New platforms allow broadcasters worldwide to join neighborhood of Arabic-language channels

 

Meanwhile, GlobeCast and Arabsat marked on Tuesday one year of partnership in the worldwide distribution of the satellite operator’s bouquet of Arabic-language channels. Since the launch of this satellite bouquet, aggregating ASBU (Arab States Broadcasting Union) members, the two market leaders have succeeded in turning this project into a true reference for the satellite industry. 

 

By attracting new broadcasters and proposing new services, GlobeCast and Arabsat have expanded the bouquet’s potential viewership and footprint offering new coverage on Astra 1E in Europe and PAS-8 in Australia. With this maximum global coverage, channels worldwide are able to join the bouquet and viewers on five continents are free to view its community channels.

 

Currently, the available services cover the following regions the following regios: Europe via Astra 1E, Australia via PAS-8, North America via GlobeCast WorldTV on Intelsat Americas 5, South America via Hispasat 1C, Africa via NSS 7, and Asia via AsiaSat 3S

 

GlobeCast also provides individual DTH channel distribution for select ASBU member channels to:

Europe via Hot Bird and Australia via Optus B3.
