Conax Names Jørgen K H Bertheau as VP, Americas Sales

OSLO, Norway, Feb. 22/Satnews Dail/ — Conax AS, a subsidiary of the broadcast operation of Norway’s Telenor and a supplier of innovative solutions for Smart Card based Conditional Access Systems (CAS) and security and payment solutions for the digital broadcast industry, has named Jørgen K H Bertheau, Vice President, Americas Sales.

With his new position, Bertheau will direct a new Conax subsidiary in San Diego and will be responsible for all sales and marketing efforts in North America.

Bertheau has a long history in Conax, being one of the pioneers in the company. Through the past eight years, he has been working with sales and marketing of Conax in new markets.

CEO Ernst Thue said Conax is now strengthening its focus on North America by opening a subsidiary in San Diego, and the company expects Bertheau to spearhead a major expansion in this market. “Conax already has significant presence in North America with a full implementation at WOW in Bermuda and with ATCi and PIT in continental US,” he said.

One of the popular products of Conax is its modular Conax CAS7 for the digital broadcast industry. Conax CAS7 is a stand-alone CA solution that can also complement existing CA systems with additional functionality. With a strong anti–piracy record, Conax’s mature and future proven technology is cost-effective, requiring minimal upfront investment for installation of the full system (Conax CAS7 Core plus all modules).

This modular system allows a broadcaster or content provider to start with a basic system supporting pay-TV, and then add additional components to support more complex operations and business models. Among these components are a Mobile Ordering and Payment Server, Virtual Video on Demand (VVOD), Voucher Server and CAStream IP Encryptor.

Conax is a subsidiary of the broadcast operation of Norway’s Telenor.
