STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 23, 2005/Satnews Daily/
— The Swe-Dish Suitcase has been awarded an iPSTAR test certificate,
simplifying its usage in Asia for small Ku-band satellite terminals.
Swe-Dish said the small mobile broadband satellite
terminal is one of the first to receive such a certificate.
The use of Ku-band transmission in South East Asia is increasing. Swe-Dish
has recently commissioned several VSAT networks with mobile remote
satellite terminals using the IPT Suitcase in the region. Typical users
are governmental organizations, using satellite communication for
disaster relief or defense applications, as well as broadcasters using
the equipment in breaking news and coverage of major events.
The iPSTAR satellite, operated by Shin Satellite PLC, is a new
generation of IP based satellites offering a broadband
Internet/multimedia platform. iPSTAR delivers bandwidth on demand. This
allows efficient use of bandwidth, making it ideal for broadband access
to private companies and governmental organizations. iPSTAR is able to
provide secure and efficient high-speed virtual private network (VPN) to
organizations with multiple remote branches over a public network.
Organizations are able to easily set up Intranet networks for various
data, voice and video applications.
Lars Jehrlander, CEO of Swe-Dish, said the certificate from iPSTAR
strengthen the company’s market position in Thailand and also opens up
for new markets in Asia.
The Swe-Dish Suitcase has previously been awarded type approvals from
Intelsat (IA097AA0), Eutelsat (EA-V042), Europe*Star (ES-ME-39),
Hispasat and has also received a FCC license.
