Globecomm Systems, Samacom Launch Middle East Service Operation

 

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Oct. 13, 2005/Satnews Daily/ — Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) has announced that it has teamed with Samacom, a leading provider of satellite communication services in the Middle East, to launch a new Middle East service operation.

 

Globecomm said the hub for operations will be located at the Samacom teleport facility in Dubai, UAE. The agreement between the two companies facilitates the launch of VSAT services, utilizing iDirect technology to support voice, Internet and data solutions throughout the region, which are scheduled to begin in the company's fiscal second quarter ending December 31, 2005.

 

The agreement expands Globecomm's existing relationship with Samacom, which is a member of Dubai Holding. Globecomm has been working with Samacom for several years on the planning and development of Samacom's Teleport facilities.

 

David Hershberg, Globecomm CEO said the agreement represents the company’s commitment in the region and is a big step toward continued expansion of its Middle East Service Operation. Globecomm Network Services Corp. is currently providing International voice and Internet services in Afghanistan, Iraq and the UAE.
