Norsat Supplies U.S. Army Portable Satellite Systems for Louisiana

 
VANCOUVER, British Columia, Sept. 30, 2005/Satnews Daily/ — Norsat International Inc. (TSX:NII)(OTCBB:NSATF) said on Thursday that it has fulfilled an order to supply portable satellite systems to the 1st Cavalry Division of the U.S. Army. The size of the order exceeds US$800,000.

Troops from the 1st Cavalry Division based out of Fort Hood, Texas, are using the portable satellite systems to transmit high fidelity data and video, as part of the current engagement in Joint Task Force Katrina. Helicopters and crews from Fort Hood's 1st Air Cavalry Brigade have been the lead air element of the task force.

Joint Task Force Katrina, headquartered at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, has the responsibility for coordinating overall Department of Defense relief efforts in the affected areas and is commanded by Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honore, commanding general of First U.S. Army.
