Nigeria's Largest ISP Taps PanAmSat’s PAS-1R as New Hub

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, Sept. 29, 2005/Satnews Daily/ ¾  Direct-on-PC, one of Nigeria’s largest and fastest growing ISP, has selected PanAmSat's PAS-1R Atlantic Ocean Region satellite as the foundation for its new hub/earth station. Based on the iDIRECT managed network solution, this hub will be used to support various VSAT, VoIP and IP services.

“With over 2,000 terminals deployed and growing, Direct-on-PC is one of our largest customers in Nigeria,” said Peter McBride, vice president of sales, PanAmSat. “Pairing this new hub with PAS-1R will give them even greater flexibility in supporting their varied services,” he said.

Designed specifically to support the bandwidth-intensive needs of the business community, the new hub will provide the most flexible business-class platform in the Nigerian marketplace. It will offer connectivity for various business-WAN applications through PAS-1R's expansive Ku-band footprint which covers all of Europe as well as Western Africa. It will support shared services, dedicated services in star topology and mesh services by the end of 2005.
