Telesat Acquires SPACECONNECTION |

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA, and OTTAWA, ON, Jan. 7/Satnews Daily/ —Canada’s satellite operator Telesat has acquired California-based SPACECONNECTION, Inc., provider of programming-related satellite transmission services to all the major U.S. television networks and cable programmers.
Telesat said Robert M. Patterson will remain president and CEO of the company he founded in 1987. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Working with Telesat gives us access to the capabilities of one of the premier satellite operators, while continuing SPACECONNECTION’s tradition of providing the highest quality of service to our customers,” Patterson said.
SPACECONNECTION is a leader in providing C-Band and Ku-Band space segment worldwide for video, audio, data and internet services. Its clients include the major television networks (i.e., ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS), cable programmers (e.g., CNN, Jewelry Television, Shop at Home), and services to the educational, religious, government, business and entertainment sectors. Telesat intends to operate the company as an independent subsidiary with no change to its customers, employees and vendor relationships.
