Satellite Industry Association Names Director of Government Affairs Staff

 

Washington, DC, Dec. 13/Satnews Daily/ ¾ The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) has named Michael Beavin as its new director of government affairs. Beavin brings extensive public policy experience to SIA and will be overseeing all satellite focused legislative and policy issues facing Congress and the Administration for the Association.

 

“Mike will be working with key policymakers to ensure that the voice of the satellite industry is heard in Washington, DC. His experience, both in Congress and industry,  will do much to raise SIA’s profile and benefit our members greatly,” said David Cavossa, executive director, SIA.

 

Beavin comes to SIA from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) where he was the director of government relations and public policy. Mike also served on the majority staff of the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics for the House’s Committee on Science. The subcommittee is responsible for overseeing the authorization of the NASA budget and the FAA R,E&D budget.

 

Before coming to Washington DC, Mike pursued a commercial pilot career with several airlines. He holds a bachelors of Science degree from Bowling Green State University as well as a FAA commercial pilot license.
