Thuraya Launches Maritime Service

 

Abu Dhabi, UAE/Nov. 30/Satnews Daily/ ¾ Thuraya launched Monday its maritime service that will provide maritime vessels of all kinds with sophisticated on board telecommunications for operability within Thuraya's coverage area.

 

Thuraya said it offers uninterrupted satellite services across its entire coverage area including the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Arabian Gulf, the Arabian Sea, the North Sea, the Baltic Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Black Sea, and part of the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean.

 

Its maritime service include voice, data, fax and internet and is ideal for fishing operations, yachts and sailboats, oceanography research, marine navigation, harbour operations, military, commercial transport, cruise ships and pleasure crafts. According to Thuraya, the maritime solution available in both post-paid and pre-paid is also cost effective for crew calling, enabling users to keep in touch at sea with their families and friends.

 

Jamal Al Jarwan, Thuraya's Executive Manager Business Development said he expects Thuraya maritime terminal to become an industry standard for cost-efficiency, dependability and portability.

 

“The maritime solution has been receiving high marks from all those who have tested it. We see its application in everything from small fishing boat, to pleasure boat, to shipping fleet,” said Al Jarwan.
