Satellite Users Interference Reduction Group Elects Officers, Sets Key Priorities for 2005

 

Washington, D.C., Nov. 1/Satnews Daily/ ¾ At its recent Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors of the Satellite Users Interference Reduction Group voted on its new officers and directors for 2004/5. 

 

Those elected are as follows:

  • Chairman of the Board:  R. James Budden, Vice President of Operations, New Skies Satellites N.V.
  • President and CEO: Robert W. Ames, Jr.
  • Secretary: Nigel G. Smith, Director, satID, QinetiQ
  • Treasurer:  Chandi Amruthur, Project Manager/Principal Engineer, Intelsat
  • Vice President: Greg Robb, Senior Director, Service Development, PanAmSat
  • Vice President: Adam Edwards, Manager, Payload Operations Center, New Skies Satellites N.V.
  • Director: Hector Fortis, Director de Trafico y Soporte al Cliente, SatMex
  • Director: Luis Jimenez, Supervisor SACC, SES Americom
  • Director: Omer Bashir, Intelsat, Principal Engineer

 

The Board also decided to prioritize satellite operator training and certification as one of its projects for next year. It also vowed to continue working with equipment vendors to incorporate a carrier identification capability within transmit equipment.

 

Other group priorities include -- capturing and tracking global interference incidents on its web site for analysis; providing tools and serving as a central location for identifying and mitigating interference; and analyzing the financial and manpower impact of interference on satellite customers.
