TORONTO, Sept 9, 2004/Satnews Daily/ — Canadian Satellite Radio (CSR) has appointed Stephen Tapp as president and Chief Operating Officer.
Tapp will oversee the company’s efforts to obtain a license from the CRTC, and if the license is granted, he will direct the launch and manage CSR’s operations in Canada. CSR is in a unique position to offer Canadian subscribers an unprecedented new offering of over 100 digital audio channels, including 68 commercial-free music channels and a diverse array of news, sports and other entertainment programming.
Tapp comes to CSR from CHUM Limited, where he oversaw the company’s television division, including such leading stations as Citytv and MuchMusic. He has significant international experience, having been responsible for developing and managing CHUM’s global distribution arm. Tapp also has a background in new technology and product launches. He successfully pioneered the introduction of Viewer’s Choice Canada Pay-Per-View in the early 1990’s.
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work with John and his team. CSR will provide consumers unparalleled choice over a wide array of unique, quality audio entertainment” said Tapp. “If licensed, our national service will give subscribers and artists access to an exciting new generation of entertainment programming. Our presence will not only be complementary to existing FM and AM Radio choices in the country, but it will also give Canadian artists unprecedented access to audiences both at home and across North America.” |
