Martin Board Elects Robert J. Stevens as President and CEO; Christopher
E. Kubasik as Exec. VP and CFO |

Md., August 9/Satnews Daily/ — The Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] board of directors has elected Robert J.
Stevens as President and CEO last week replacing Vance Coffman’s who
retired after 37 years with the company, including seven years as CEO.
Stevens
has held a variety of increasingly responsible executive positions
including COO, CFO, and head of Strategic Planning through a career that
has included experience in program management, finance, manufacturing,
and operations. Stevens
is a Fellow of the American Astronautical Society, and an Associate
Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He
serves on the International Advisory Board of the British-American
Business Council, and on the Executive Committee of the Aerospace
Industries Association. He is a member of the Council on Foreign
Relations, and is Presiding Director of the Monsanto Company.
During 2001 and 2002, Mr. Stevens also served on President Bush’s
Commission to Examine the Future of the United States Aerospace
Industry. Born
in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Stevens is a 1976 summa cum laude graduate
of Slippery Rock University from which he received the 2003
Distinguished Alumni Award. He earned a masters' degree in engineering
and management from the Polytechnic University of New York and, with a
Fairchild Fellowship, earned a masters' degree in business from
Columbia. He is a graduate of the Department of Defense Systems
Management College Program Management course and also served in the
United States Marine Corps. In 2004, he was recognized by the
National Management Association as Executive of the Year.
Also
elected by the board of directors is Christopher E. Kubasik as Executive
VP and CFO. Reporting to the Executive Office, he is responsible for all aspects of the corporation’s financial strategies, processes and operations. He serves as the Vice Chairman of the Lockheed Martin Diversity Council, Chairman of the Ethics and Business Conduct Steering Committee, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Lockheed Martin Investment Management Company, which currently manages $21 billion of defined benefit assets.
Kubasik previously served as Lockheed Martin’s Vice President and Controller, a position he had held since November 1999. In that capacity, his team included tax, contracts, government finance, planning, accounting and reporting, international financial operations, financial shared services and independent cost estimating.
Kubasik was born in Cheverly, Maryland, March 26, 1961. He earned his bachelor’s degree (Magna Cum Laude) in accounting from the University of Maryland’s School of Business in 1983. In 1997, he attended the Executive Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business. In 2004, he completed the Systems Acquisition Management Course for Flag Officers at the Defense Acquisition University, Fort Belvoir. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Kubasik joined Lockheed Martin in 1999 as controller. Previously, he held various positions with Ernst & Young, LLP, and was named Partner in 1996. He graduated with honors from the University of Maryland’s School of Business in 1983 and attended Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business Executive Program in 1997. |
