Sirius Satellite Names Doug Kaplan SVP, Business Affairs and Business Development, Entertainment and Sports |

NEW YORK, Aug. 4/Satnews Daily/ — Satellite radio provider Sirius (NASDAQ:SIRI) has promoted Doug Kaplan to Senior Vice President, Business Affairs and Business Development, Entertainment and Sports. Kaplan will report to Scott Greenstein, Sirius' President, Entertainment and Sports.
Kaplan, previously Sirius' Vice President, Business Affairs, has worked with Greenstein to negotiate many of the company's recent content initiatives, including agreements with the NFL, Maxim, Elvis Presley Enterprises, Tony Hawk and the company's just-announced venture with rapper Eminem, Interscope Records and Shady Records. In his new position, Kaplan will oversee all entertainment and sports transactions for the nationwide satellite radio broadcaster.
"From the beginning, Doug has shared my vision of making Sirius the leader in sports, music and entertainment," said Greenstein. "His skills, experience and strategic thinking will help us identify and acquire the best programming available, empowering customers to enjoy a diverse and personalized Sirius experience."
Since joining Sirius in 1999, Kaplan has served as the company's Deputy General Counsel, with responsibility for music licensing, programming transactions and agreements with automotive, retail, distribution and technology partners. Prior to joining Sirius, Kaplan was an associate at Cravath, Swaine and Moore in New York and from 1995-96 was President of the Lakeland Prowlers in the Southern Hockey League. |
